1. Household assistants (*)
The graphic below shows the evolution in the number of private households and the household assistants they have employed.
Across the entire observation period from 2020 to 2024, the median number of hours worked by household assistants each week was 4.
(*) People who provide help in the household, childcare or care and assistance to a dependent person.
2. Informal assistants
The evolution in the number of informal assistants shown below is very stable. This only includes assistants who are family members or other loved ones, providing care and assistance without being paid and only enrolled for pension insurance.
3. Au pairs
Since 2013, families have been able to host au pairs, enrolling them with the Luxembourg social security system. The evolution in the number of au pairs is shown in the graphic below.
