Abolition of 100% reimbursements from the Employers' Mutual Insurance for absences due to COVID-19

Art. 14 of the Articles of Association of the Employers' Mutual Insurance (Mutualité des employeurs - MDE) provides for full reimbursement (100%) for periods of incapacity for work due to quarantine or isolation ordered by the Director of Health or his delegate.

However, quarantine and isolation under COVID-19 were repealed by the Act of 24 March 2023 amending the amended Act of 17 July 2020 on measures to combat the COVID-19 pandemic, which came into force on 1 April 2023.

As a result, from the April 2023 reference period, MDE reimbursements for COVID-19-related absences will be made at 80%, in the same way as for other incapacity for work due to sickness. The 100% reimbursement for COVID-19-related absences remains applicable in the event of retroactive calculation or recalculation up to and including the March 2023 reference period.
