A person who has no other access to health insurance can opt for a voluntary health insurance.
Voluntary health insurance (continued or optional) may be ended by the person concerned or, in some cases, automatically by the Social Security Centre (Centre commun de la sécurité sociale - CCSS).
Another person may undertake to pay the contributions instead of the applicant.
A person who has voluntarily registered for health and/or pension insurance receives an account statement each month with the amount of contributions to pay.
In order to simplify the payment of social security contributions, it is possible to grant a direct debit mandate to the Social Security Centre (Centre commun de la sécurité sociale - CCSS).
Any person (natural or legal) with a credit balance on their contributor's account with the Social Security Centre (Centre commun de la sécurité social - CCSS), may ask for it to be paid into their bank account.
